Gangbusters Murder Board

I’ve been chatting with my group about how we’d be interested in co-GM’ing a Gangbusters campaign at some point (but with different combat rules than the old TSR game, which is pretty dated). One thing that might be cool is to include a long-term crime investigation arc.

Gushing About Gangbusters

Recently I’ve been looking at the old TSR Gangbusters RPG, and I’m really exciting about the prospect of playing and/or running in a Gangbusters campaign. I love the setting, the idea of a city-based campaign with recurring NPCs, and the Pulp Noir feel of the world. The combat rules of the original TSR game are a bit byzantine, so I am looking at other rules systems (probably one of my own invention) to use when playing the game.

Play-by-Post Guidelines for GamersPlane.com

I’ve run or played play-by-post (or ‘PbP’ for short) off-and-on for over 20 years. Back when I first started, it was Play-by-Email (PBEM), usually using a group listserv to send group emails. Things have progressed in 20 years! Two platforms that have take PbP to the next level are Discord (by adding the  DiceMaiden (dice rolling) and Tupperbox (alias/avatar) bots) and GamersPlane.com. Both have their merits, but I am particularly enamored with GamersPlane.com.

Example Questworlds Superhero: Syzygy Darklock

I’m currently playing with the upcoming QuestWorlds RPG. You can check out the free SRD of the game here. It has a really interesting narrative mechanic that dates back around 20 years. Originally it was a game called Hero Wars, then was renamed HeroQuest, and now finally renamed QuestWorlds (so as to not be confused with the HeroQuest board game of the same name).
