The Captive of Dardrin’s Deep: Prelude

You’ve travelled alone thus far, but after a few pints shared with some interesting travelers you met this evening at the inn, you think you’ve found some companions you might venture with on the morrow. That night, as you turn in for the evening, you sleep fitfully. You feel like someone in the distance keeps whispering ‘Help me!’ in whispered but frantic tones.

The Elf Woman in the Vision

The Elf Woman in the Vision

A vision then emerges of an angelically beautiful elvish woman, floating ethereally, her face occasionally contorting into bursts of pain. Then you hear a chorus of unseen voices chanting what seems to be a prophecy:

The elf-lord was a suitor spurned,
thus eldritch wrath his lover earned.
Dark spells he wove in hidden cove
in vengeance while his anger burned.

The elvish maid now cannot weep,
enchanted in eternal sleep,
transfixed and bound by ring she found
in hidden vale of Dardrin’s Deep.

To free her of her slumber cold
one must make haste to Spire of Gold.
The death-filled tower holds gauntlet’s power
to wield the sword of heroes old.

The Soul-Blade rests in bones of care
beyond the pool where damsel’s fair
gave gods their gift at Burden’s Lift
to be relieved of life’s despair.

With blade and gloves seek Belfin’s Height
through tunnels dark restore the light
the keeper’s chain will on you rain
but take the ring to make wrongs right.

You wake. You are alone in the room, but have a feeling your life will never again be the same.

Shambling Throne of the Death Cult King

Quick recap of the ShinnCon V game. Here was the description:

“Shambling Throne of the Death Cult King”

You are about to settle in for a peaceful night at the Drunken Dragon Inn when Chaos strikes. Literally. A local cultist bursts in and demands tribute to the Chaos God, whose death horde swiftly approaches. Rumored to command a legion of undead, the Death King Nulgarbad paves a trail of destruction across the land. Dare you infiltrate the death trap of his shambling throne?

This was truly one of the most memorable games I’ve run. I had several TPK-capable creatures including an undead dragon go after the players. (un?)Fortunately the players were way to cunning for my big bad guys — turns out if you can ally with a 90 foot giant and have him lob half-filled barrels of Holy Water, you can do over 2,000 Hit Points of damage vs. the undead with one shot [yes, we did the math]  🙂

So much XP was had (literally thousands of monsters died in the aftermath) that the players advanced TWO levels and will be level 10 next game!

Mysteries of Redmark: The Village of Orlane

The Village of Orlane

The Village of Orlane

Our heroes, along with a new companion, were en route to Tyre in Kashpar to secure a set of legendary keys which would allow entrance to the legendary king of Oskarria. Along the way they were asked to check in with the mayor of Orlane, since there had been troubling reports.

Our players had entered a temple to the Northeast side of the village in order to get to the bottom of missing people and bewitched villagers.

Players who attended received 450 XP for great roleplaying and a few combats.

Legends of Redmark: The Sorcerer Sulieman’s Shifting Sanctuary

On May 9 we ran a game at John’s house. Full set of photos here: https://plus.google.com/photos/+StanShinn/albums/6151491021511827521

The intro to our game:

“Before you stands the ominous arches of a bewitched sanctuary, home of the Sorcerer Sulieman’s forbidden experiments. Time is of the essence: Harliss, the village chief’s son, is with you, anxious to save his beloved Layana from the vile experiments of the sorcerer who recently abducted her.

What dangers lie inside? The locals speak of a silver-furred wolf-man they killed only after his vicious talons had slain half the town. Purple, slimed abominations and three-eyed horrors have also been sighted loping through the night, escaped from the self-same sanctuary which lies before you.

You obtained crucial clues and a map from a half-mad peasant, but still, none have ever escaped alive from the sorcerer’s lair. Can you solve the mysteries of the sanctuary and survive to rescue Layana from the clutches of the Sorcerer Sulieman?”

We played Level 7 characters. Next time people play in a Legends of Redmark game the characters will be Level 8.

Legends of Redmark: The Blood Arena

Had a great D&D game this last Saturday! Characters were at 6th level for this game and will be at 7th level next time we play.

Other news:

  • For out next game on Jan 31st we’ll spend most or maybe all the session building our characters and backstories and such for the mega-epic 50 Fathoms campaign. If we get done in a couple of hours I’ll run some Dreadfall.
  • Mason and Jeff got to talking about Fallout (a post-apocalyptic Sci Fi type game) and we decided that Mason (with maybe one game from Jeff) will run a mini-campaign, probably 6 session or so, of Fallout (using Savage Worlds rules). After Fallout ends, we’ll do 50 Fathoms. Or could be we just make it our ‘B’ campaign and run it when Jeff isn’t free or needs a break. Jeff and Mason will get back to us with plans 🙂
  • We talked about Stan putting together a one-shot or mini-series in the ‘B’ campaign veign with low-powered Supers at the high school or college age 🙂
