I have an RPG bucket list. Not just different game systems to play but different game experiences I want to pursue. 

I currently have 64 goals listed: 26 game systems and 38 game settings or experiences. Of those, I’ve accomplished 51 of them. I’ve got 10 more nice-to-have goals (highlighted in purple). And finally, I’ve got 3 high-priority bucket list goals (highlighted in red).

  1. Run or play the following RPG systems at least once (26 games currently):

  2. Run or play in a long-term Traveller campaign. (DONE)
  3. Run or play in a long-term Middle-earth campaign (just started playing in one recently). (DONE)
  4. Run a procedurally generated sandbox city campaign with factions (jazzed about Mage Cops as a fit for that at the moment, but Crimefighters or Dresden Files also would work).
  5. Run or play Star Wars (regardless of rules-system). (DONE)
  6. Run or play in a Sword & Planet setting (think John Carter of Mars).
  7. Completely master a ’complex’ RPG system (I generally get OK at playing or running a system but I haven’t played any modern system long enough to learn the rules, powers, spells, feats, etc. like the back of my hand. I envy those GMs and Players who have such system mastery). (DONE)
  8. Come dressed as your character.
  9. Run the Top 10 Amber Zones adventures using a Sci Fi roleplaying setting (see http://amber.zone/2014/06/30/top-10-classic-amber-zones/.
  10. Visit the Robert E. Howard museum, maybe on the Robert E. Howard days annual event in June and thereafter play a Conan game.
  11. Run a game I’ve written (done in 2014  (Cinematic), 2012 (Rarescape) and 2010 (Lost Empires)) (DONE)
  12. Run an at-home game convention (DONE)
  13. Run or play in a Space Opera/SciFi campaign (DONE)
  14. Run a successful drama-driven campaign (i.e. with Fate, Cortex Plus, Apocalypse World, Lady Blackbird, etc.) (DONE)
  15. Attend GenCon (DONE)
  16. Run or play in a Hollow Earth style setting.
  17. Develop and publish a GM toolkit  (DONE).
  18. Develop RPG Convention tournaments or contests  (DONE).
  19. Help with an RPG Convention (DONE).
  20. Run a campaign that starts at level 1 and hits at least level 10 (DONE).
  21. Play the same character for more than a year (haven’t done this since the 80’s)  (DONE).
  22. Run a licensed game campaign that made people go “This feels like playing the Show.”  (DONE).
  23. Play or run a short Middle Earth Lord of the Rings roleplaying campaign such as 1st or 2nd Edition MERP (Middle Earth Roleplaying, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle-earth_Role_Playing), or The One Ring (now in print, Cubicle 7 http://www.cubicle7.co.uk/our-games/the-one-ring/) or D&D 5e with custom backgrounds  (DONE).
  24. Design an interesting, original magic item (DONE, the clock-ticking-down demon sword in a 1st Age Redmark game).
  25. Play or run classic D&D modules which I’ve never played starting with the UK series: The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh (DONE), When A Star FallsBone Hill (DONE) and Nights Dark Terror; then on to Dwellers of the Forbidden City, The Hidden Shrine of Tamochan, The Forgotten Temple of Tharzidun, Against the Cult of the Reptile God (DONE), Scourge of the Slave Lords (A1-4), The Lost City, Queen of Spiders (G1-3, D1-3, Q1), and just maybe (with a character I don’t mind losing) Tomb of Horrors (S1).
  26. Play a game in the dark (attached photo shows what it might look like.   30. Run a Mecha game (maybe using the Mecha Hack system, using MechWarrior minis and 6mm scale terrain).
  31. Run a Smallville-inspired superhero setting including relationships and school drama.
  32. Run or play The Secrets of Cats (Fate) — You play intelligent cats who try to protect their ‘burdens’ (their human masters) from paranormal threats. (DONE)
  33. Run or play in Eberron (A steam-punk feeling fantasy noir setting with airships, floating cities, and a variety of interesting magical races). (DONE)
  34. Run ‘The Great Pendragon Campaign’ A multi-generational Arthurian era saga.
  35. Run or play in a Blake’s 7 setting. (DONE)
  36. Run or play in a Doctor Who setting.
  37. Run or play in a Western setting. (DONE)
  38. Run or play in a Big Trouble in Little China Town setting. (DONE)
  39. Run a DC Comics superhero game playing canon characters.
